Parish Clerk & Responsible Financial Officer

Due to the retirement of the current Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer, Nettleham Parish Council is looking to recruit suitable replacements to work as key members of an ambitious and dynamic team.

The Parish Council is active in the areas of climate change mitigation, neighbourhood planning, and provides first rate facilities for sports and recreation for its residents. In support of these activities, it has secured substantial grant funding to enable it to be more ambitious in its scope. Nettleham Parish Council has been voted Lincolnshire Parish Council of the Year (2022) by the Lincolnshire Association of Local Councils (LALC). The Clerk/RFO was also awarded Clerk of the Year (2022) by LALC.

The Council is now splitting the original role and is currently looking to recruit a replacement Clerk and a separate Responsible Financial Officer (RFO). The Clerk will lead a small team of employees who will work closely with council members to deliver a first-class service to our residents. The RFO (reporting to the Clerk) will have responsibility for managing the Council’s annual budget approaching £250,000.

The Clerk role is part time (30 hrs per week) and the salary will be on the scale range 18-32 (up to £36,371 full time equivalent), depending on experience.  Evening working will be necessary for attendance at monthly Parish Council Meetings and other occasional meetings.  A Local Government pension provision will be available.

The RFO role is expected to be around 50 hours a month, approximately 12 – 15 hours a week which will include occasional evening meetings. The salary will be on the scale range 18-32, depending on experience. A Local Government pension provision will be available.

Applicants for either position will be expected to be skilled in the use of IT, (a CiLCA qualification is desirable) with up to date experience of being a Clerk/Deputy Clerk, or Financial Officer.
