Hunts Grove Parish Council is looking to recruit a proactive individual who is an excellent manager and ambassador to partner our elected members in delivering their priorities to the Community.

Hunts Grove will ultimately be a village of some 2,500 homes and approximately 8,000 residents. The council want someone to join its journey to completion, adoption of community facilities, and delivery of its “One Hunts Grove” strategy.

The village is growing fast and is currently 50% complete. The Parish Council serves the village with five elected councillors, and this will grow to nine councillors in 2024.

As Parish Clerk, you have a pivotal role in building and maintaining a good working relationship with a wide range of stakeholders, including residents, developers, local authorities, and other organisations in and around this new village.

The successful candidate will have considerable administrative and organisational skills and ideally have experience of working within local government. You will need to be a good communicator, be able to work under pressure and possess the ability to deal with a wide range of people with both diplomacy and tact.

Strong interpersonal skills are essential together with IT ability which should include the competent use of the Microsoft range of products. Experience with social media and updating website content is desirable.

The applicant will hold the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) or be willing to achieve this qualification within 24 months of commencing employment. This training would be fully-funded by the parish council.

The Clerk/RFO is responsible to the Parish Council for:

●      Managing the day-to-day business of the Council

●      Providing advice as the Council’s Proper Officer & RFO

●      Implementing Council decisions

●      Managing and reporting on the Council’s finances

Experience as a parish clerk or a working knowledge of parish council procedures is preferred but not essential if required competencies can be demonstrated.

The role is primarily home-based with scheduled meetings at Hunts Grove.  Duties will require some evening work including attending Council meetings that are held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30pm at Hunts Grove, Gloucestershire, GL2 4BH

The salary is £16.16-£18.05 per hour, plus an employer provided pension with NEST with up to a 15% employer contribution.  The employment package can be negotiated depending on qualifications and experience.
