Prescot Town Council is seeking a full time Town Clerk who will be both the statutory Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer of the Town Council.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a modern pro-active Town Council who serves a population of over 10,000 with 12 enthusiastic and hardworking councillors and a team of 5 dedicated staff members.

You will oversee the running of the Town Council including all its statutory, financial, operational and administrative functions and will be responsible for ensuring that the instructions of the Town Council in connection with its function as a local authority are undertaken.

You will also be responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Town Council’s staff and resources, including the management of Town Council buildings, outdoor areas and other facilities.

You will be expected to advise the Town Council on, and assist with the formulation of, policies in respect of the Town Council’s activities and produce all the information required for making effective decisions and will constructively implement all town council decisions.

This is a senior role and requires effective leadership, managerial and communication skills along with a good understanding of local government law, accounts preparation and VAT, health and safety legislation and excellent inter-personal skills.

Candidates should hold or be willing to work towards gaining the CiLCA qualification within 12 months of commencing employment.
