A vacancy has arisen for the role of Town Clerk and we’re looking for a motivated and dynamic professional to take up this challenging but rewarding role. Preferably you will be qualified to CiLCA level, but if not you must be willing to gain the qualification once in post.

Managing a team of 10 staff, strong experience is essential in all aspects of recruitment and staff management.

You’ll also need to demonstrate you can ensure the Council meets its statutory duties, including managerial oversight of the council’s accounting and statutory financial obligations. IT competency is a must.

Our successful candidate will have experience of working for a Local Council, including Committee Work, and managing a wide range of Council services. The work will be largely office-based, with some home working, and there will be a requirement for occasional evening work servicing meetings. As the role involves visiting Council facilities, it’s essential you have your own transport.

Day-to-day duties are extremely varied, so a flexible attitude and the ability to multi-task are essential. Working with the public and community groups, good communication skills are required as well as genuine empathy and a commitment to providing best quality services to all.

You’ll have strong leadership skills, and be able to demonstrate an open and honest, approachable nature, and to show resilience and perseverance to ensure tasks are seen through to completion.
