An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead a small team dedicated to providing excellent services to the local community.

Crewkerne is a market town in South Somerset with a population of around 7,000, although this is expected to rise significantly over the next 5 years as a result of new housing developments, with the town council playing a key role in managing the growth and success of the town.

Crewkerne Town Council provides a wide range of services to the community, including playgrounds and playing fields, a nature reserve, a cemetery, public toilets and a Local Information Centre, as well as providing a range of community buildings which support the provision of pre-school and youth services and a wide range of sports and community groups activities.  The town council also delivers a number of community events through the year.

The council has 12 members and the clerk will lead a team of 7 staff, including office administration staff and a grounds and buildings maintenance team.

Candidates must combine strong relevant technical knowledge and experience with effective leadership, management, influencing and communication skills. You will hold (or must obtain within 12 months) the Certificate in Local Council Administration (or equivalent) to allow the council to retain the General Power of Competence and its status as a Quality Council.

Closing date: 28 June

Interview dates: To be confirmed with candidates
