This is a post of 105 hours per calendar month, and the successful applicant will be required to work three days per week from the Town Hall and also attend Council meetings in the evenings. The role includes some weekend work and attendance at civic functions.

Duties will include, but not be restricted to, managing both the Council’s administration and the services it provides for the people of the town; servicing Council meetings, fulfilling the role of financial officer, managing the town cemetery, managing various community areas including a children’s play area and skate park; undertaking research, advising Councillors and carrying out other duties as are appropriate to the role.

Candidates should either have obtained the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) or be prepared to study and achieve the qualification within 2 years.

The post is subject to a six month probationary period.

Salary is according to the NJC pay scale SCP 30 (£17.56 hourly rate or annual salary £33,782 pro rata). This is based on the National Joint Council for Local Government Services 2020-2021 National Salary Award Scales.

The successful candidate will also be able to join the local government pension scheme.
