Training and Development Officer

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Hybrid (2 days at Taunton Office per week)

Reports to: Office Manager


Job Purpose: To plan and administer all CPD courses which are currently delivered virtually and to provide general administration support within the Conferences, Training and Education Team at the Society’s head office in Taunton. You will work daily with Microsoft Office, our bespoke CRM and financial systems.

Specific Responsibilities:

The Training and Development Officer is responsible for identifying new topics for the Society’s well established webinar programme, and if the demand arises to plan and deliver in person CPD

  • To identify via expressions of interest locations to deliver CPD topics (either face to face or via webinar), liaise with our venue finding agent, or local clerk to identify suitable venues within budget.
  • Source topics for future CPD courses
  • Ensure that the CPD events are listed on the CRM ready for the delegates to book within good time
  • Liaise with venues, caterers and trainers regarding numbers on courses, being mindful of cancellation terms and conditions
  • Receive all CPD bookings through our website and confirming bookings back to delegates by creation of joining instructions and creation of feedback forms for after the event
  • Liaise with the Head of Marketing regarding promotion on the SLCC website for the CPD courses that you have booked
  • Respond to enquiries from delegates via email and telephone
  • Liaise with CPD trainers with respect to queries and updates
  • Provide each course with administration support, ensuring you are the facilitator of the webinar ready to hand over to the trainer on the day
  • Work with the Conference Manager to promote your CPD courses in each edition of The Clerk Magazine (Events Pages)
  • Maintaining a register of expressions of interest in course topics, ensuring that the Society responds to members’ requests for training. Contacting members on the list to highlight new courses as appropriate
  • Providing monthly statistical reports on all CPD training

General

  • Taking telephone and email enquiries from members of the Society ensuring they are given correct information or redirected appropriately
  • Providing content for The Clerk magazine when requested
  • During quiet periods assist other officers within the team with their duties
  • Undertake continuous professional development in identified areas
  • Undertake duties and activities as may be reasonably requested of you as an Officer of the Society

The duties above are specific, but not exclusive. Administrators will provide support in all or some of the areas, and may change from time to time as the demands on the team change.

Person Specification

Required Skills:

  • Previous Administration Experience
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent Organisational Skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Experience of event organisation and administration
  • Happy to welcome delegates onto a webinar and provide technical support to attendees on Zoom / Teams
  • Competent with data entry and uses databases on a regular occurrence
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of working in a national organisation

Education:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s to include English & Maths
