On 30 July, Minister of State for Local Government and English Devolution, Jim McMahon, issued a statement to the House of Commons announcing plans to tackle the backlog in local audit. Alongside other partnership bodies in our sector, SLCC Chief Executive Rob Smith wrote to Mr McMahon to welcome his plans and to ask for the inclusion of consideration of the £6.5m audit threshold in our sector.
