20 March 2025SLCC was represented by Michael King, SLCC Head of Policy and External Communications, at a meeting called by colleagues at the Association of Democratic Services Officers (ADSO), to look at opportunities to enhance the understanding of our sector amongst senior managers in principal authorities. The meeting was attended by Charlotte Eisenhart, ADSO Chief Executive, and James Doble, Assistant Director for Governance and Registration at Stoke City Council, alongside Anders Hansen from the National Association of Local Councils (NALC). All three organisations identified the need to increase dialogue about shared issues. At this stage we anticipate that ADSO will produce a webinar on working with town and parish councils for its members. We hope to contribute to a ‘technical briefing’ on standards issues in town and parish councils comparing the perspectives of local council clerks and monitoring officers.
We hope to develop materials that can be shared between ADSO and SLCC members to help raise knowledge and mutual understanding across the tiers.
