New: Extra Security for Your SLCC Account

10 April 2025

To help keep your account safe, we’ve introduced two-factor authentication (2FA) for all website users logging into the SLCC website.

  • A little extra security – When logging in from a new or unrecognised device, you’ll get an email with a verification code.
  • Easy login – Enter the code from your email into the website to finish signing in.
  • Remember your device – Tick the ‘Remember this device’ box to skip this step for the next 30 days. (Please note, this is browser specific, so if you login on a different browser, it will not remember you, and you will need to go through the 2FA process again).

This small extra step helps protect your account while keeping login quick and simple.

Tip: If you don’t see the email with your login code, check your spam or junk folder and whitelist the email address [email protected] with your email provider.

Why you’re being asked to re-enter 2FA every time
If you’re being prompted to enter your two-factor authentication (2FA) code every time you log in, here’s what might be happening:

  • You’re using the ‘Logout’ link: If you log out of the site each time, your session and remembered devices are cleared—so you’ll need to go through 2FA again on your next login.
  • You’re not logging out but still being asked for 2FA: In this case, it’s likely that your browser or computer is blocking cookies. Cookies are what allow your 2FA preferences to be saved, so if they’re not stored, the system won’t remember you. If cookies are being cleared, it’s probably due to a security setting but just be aware that this will prevent any “remember me” features from working.

Using Chrome? Here’s how to check the relevant setting:

  1. Open Chrome Settings: Click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner of the browser and choose Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy and security from the left-hand menu.
  3. Click on Site settings.
  4. Scroll down and expand Additional content settings.
  5. Click on On-device site data.
  6. Make sure the option “Delete data sites have saved to your device when you close all windows” is turned off.
If this is turned on, Chrome will automatically delete cookies when you close the browser, which stops 2FA from being remembered.
