New Road Safety Campaign Launches in Rural Areas

7 March 2023

Rural areas are being targeted with a new road safety awareness campaign – THINK! The campaign launched on 6 March 23 and aims to encourage all drivers, but in particular men aged 17 to 24, to slow down on the roads.

According to the statistics, ‘60% of all serious and fatal collisions involving young male car drivers were on rural roads’ and ‘speeding accounts for around 1 in 4 fatal collisions.’

The government is also investigating other ways to improve road safety in rural areas and has started making improvements to signage, pedestrian crossings and better designed junctions.
