New updated guidance on remote meetings (Applicable in England only)

7 May 2021

In light of the recent court case brought by ADSO, LLG and Hertfordshire County Council and the resulting decision which ruled against the extension of the right to hold council meetings remotely we have been working alongside colleagues at NALC to provide the best advice to all our valued members.

We have published a new advice note which gives further clarification on the legal position and details your responsibilities as employers and managers. You will also find operational suggestions which you may find useful in conducting council business.

This advice applies to members in England, the devolved assemblies of Wales and Scotland have already put the necessary legislation in place to continue remote meetings.

The advice team at SLCC are available to offer support and assist members with any questions they may have at this time, please have some patience and be kind to those who are also facing similar challenges.
