17 May 2021Sue Baxter, Chair of National Association of Local Councils (NALC) has penned an open letter to councillors, both newly elected and returning, of town and parish councils following the recent elections.
The profile of local councils has rarely been higher and the interest in the local elections was much more focused than in previous years. In her letter, she welcomes councillors and acknowledges their commitment to their communities in taking on civic office.
She also encourages councillors to sign up to the new national Model Councillor Code of Conduct and references the work of SLCC, Local Government Association (LGA) and local county associations in their continuing efforts to being about changes to the standards regime.
