Open Letter to Allow Remote Meetings in England

20 January 2022

SLCC continue to support the campaign by the Local Government Association (LGA), Lawyers in Local Government (LLG) and the Association of Democratic Services (ADSO) to allow councils in England to have the choice to meet remotely and have signed an open letter which has been circulated to national and local media to raise awareness of the petition.

The letter outlines the benefits of remote meetings such as increased transparency and openness for the public, increased meeting attendance for councillors and the public, as well as the environmental and cost saving benefits, and calls on the government to allow councils to have the choice to hold remote meetings, in-line with Scotland and Wales.
