Residents of both Maidenhead (population 50,000) and Windsor (32,000) have launched petitions calling on Windsor and Maidenhead Borough Council to create town councils for their areas.

Elsewhere the London Borough of Tower Hamlets looks set to reject calls to create a town council for the Spitalfields locality as part of a community governance review.
