Pointless street signs to be removed

The Department for Transport has published guidelines for councils saying that pointless road signs should be removed amid warnings that they waste taxpayers’ money, clutter streets and confuse motorists. Principal councils are told to audit signs in their area and remove those that are “obsolete or unnecessary”. They should also adopt a “less is more” approach to the use of future traffics signs, the document says.
