Alun Davies AM, Cabinet Secretary for Local Government and Public Services responded:

“This report is great and says a lot of important things. I’ll look at the recommendations with a positive view. Community and town councils have an important role to play in the local community. ” He then cited the role of Tredegar Town Council where he served as a councillor. “We will present the report to the National Assembly and we will have a debate on this in government time. We will also put the report to committee so we get support across the chamber…the report is the start not the end to strengthening local democracy and I’m sure the recommendations will improve democratic accountability”

Ed Humphreys, Town Clerk of Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn TC and a member of the Panel, writes and comments about the final report in a special extended article in the next edition of The Clerk magazine.
