4 April 2025Smaller Authorities’ Audit Appointments Ltd (SAAA) has published its ‘Report on the Results of Auditors’ Work at Smaller Authorities for 2023/2024’.
The report provides a comprehensive overview of the work conducted by auditors at smaller authorities, including local councils, parish meetings, internal drainage boards, and other local government bodies. The report highlights key findings and trends in the submission and review of Annual Governance and Accountability Returns (AGAR). It’s worth noting that only 78% of smaller authorities submitted their AGAR by the required deadline of 30 June 2024. This increased to 97% by 30 September 2024, but the initial delay impacts the efficiency of the audit process.
