Somerset Wood commemorating the countys WWI fallen seeks support from all parishes

28 January 2019

The Somerset Wood is a unique project undertaken by the County Council in partnership with Taunton Deane BC and Cheddon Fitzpaine and West Monkton PCs to a lasting memorial to all those from the county who lost their lives in World War I. 11,281 trees have already been sponsored and the two parishes are asking individuals, groups, and Parishes to sponsor future maintenance of a tree(s) in memory of relatives and friends.  The planting of the trees is only the first part of the story – the ongoing maintenance is beyond the capacity of the two parishes and they are asking all Parish Councils in Somerset to consider on-going support for the project.
