Whilst the buildings still carry those founding principles, there is a perception that they have lost their connection to the community and many have fallen into disrepair.
Local Authorities are increasingly finding inventive ways to reverse this decline by re-imagining town halls, re-establishing them as public assets, and often successfully placing them at the centre of local regeneration and industrial growth strategies.
