North Yorkshire Council has put updated plans for two new town councils in Harrogate and Scarborough respectively out to public consultation. The two towns are currently the only parts of North Yorkshire without a parish or town council. The hope is that the new town councils will offer more power to local communities. If successful, they will be formed in April 2025, with first elections taking place in May 2025.
