SLCC’s New Vision and Mission Statement

“In October 2021, our Board of Directors, as the primary strategy and policy setting body of the organisation, agreed that in 2022 – some five years after last reviewing SLCC’s strategy and vision – we should set ourselves the goal of reviewing and revising our vision, mission and strategic objectives. In line with that, in early 2022 the leadership team and I, with some external support, carried out preliminary work which was subsequently presented to the Board for their consideration in the summer. During a whole-day workshop the Board worked their way through the material and, after reviewing and revising, came up with five democratically determined key objectives. These were then further refined and later confirmed by the Board and National Forum in early 2023.

I’d like to thank the Board and National Forum for all their hard work in forming and shaping this new vision and mission statement, defining our key priorities for the medium and long term and our new strategic objectives. You can read more about this, including the values and behaviours we believe will enable us to deliver them, within this Annual Report.

Finally, I would also like to thank the entire SLCC team for continuing to deliver excellent support and guidance to our members, as well as all of you, who not only continue to ensure your councils provide the best services possible to your communities but also to support one another and your professional membership body. Thank you for all that you do.”

Rob Smith, SLCC Chief Executive
