Welsh Government responds to Review Recommendations

23 December 2018

The Welsh Government has issued its response to the recommendations of the Independent Review of the Future Role of Town and Parish Councils (see page 8 of The Clerk magazine November 2018). In an update provided to all local councils in Wales, the Government has confirmed it will be taking action in a number of areas to help support and expand the role of community and town councils. These include developing a core training package for councillors, expanding the training bursary scheme for smaller councils, inviting bids for financial support towards developing joint arrangements between councils and consulting on the way forward in a number of other areas.
