What is CPD and why is it important to do it?
CPD provides in-depth training opportunities for practitioners working for, or involved with local councils. Local councils deal with a multitude of activities and issues. In depth knowledge with such matters gives us confidence and self-fulfilment. We must all have been in situations where we have been challenged, or where we just don’t know or even worse where we stumble on just hoping for light at the end of the tunnel. CPD is now there to help and to inspire. Courses also provide practitioners with professional accreditation giving those essential points to help Institute members re-accredit each year. Attending a CPD course can give you 2.5 CPD points. See more information on CPD Recording.

Benefits of SLCC CPD:

  • The Society prides itself on being the leading training provider within town, community and the parish sector across England and Wales.
  • We aim to use training facilitators who are or have worked in the sector.
  • Courses are an opportunity to keep up to date on the latest legislative changes and provide the toolkit to enable you to work knowledgeably in your council.
  • Provide a forum for discussion and asking those pertinent questions.
  • Are great networking opportunities - meet other clerks in your area; an invaluable support network.
  • Our courses provide great value for money - just read our recent testimonials on the course pages, many of our delegates come out learning much more than they thought they would!
  • You do not need to be a member of the Society to benefit from these courses.

2019 SLCC CPD Training Course Programme
The CPD programme for 2019 covers a wide range of topics of interest to clerks, deputies and also councillors.  See the menu to the left for a list of current courses on offer.
