A number of members have mentioned to us that their, generally smaller, councils are reluctant to authorise the cost of their clerk attending conferences and training events. It has been suggested that some help in explaining the matter to councillors would be useful.
President Sarah Jeffries, herself clerk to three small councils, has kindly prepared the below report to council which aims to do just that. The report refers specifically to this year’s National Conference but can be adapted in respect of any conference or training event.
