Chipping Campden Town Council is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Town Clerk to take responsibility for all aspects of the managerial, administrative and financial operations of the Council.  Chipping Campden is a small market town with an active community located in the north Gloucestershire Cotswolds, close to the borders of Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire.

As Proper Officer, you will assist and advise councillors on formulating policies and fulfilling the legal and financial obligations of the Council. You will be responsible for managing council business and executing council resolutions.

As the council’s responsible financial officer, you will oversee the financial management of the Council and prepare financial and other reports to ensure that councillors are kept fully informed of the Council’s financial position. You will also be responsible for the line management of the Deputy Town Clerk.

Your contracted hours will be 29 per week, including evening meetings with additional time as required.

You should have relevant experience in local government or a similar public service and be an organised, conscientious and effective team leader and manager.  You will have the necessary team-working, communication and IT skills to work successfully and impartially with diverse groups including our eleven councillors, residents, community organisations, neighbouring local councils, Cotswold District and Gloucestershire County Councils, contractors and others.

You will preferably hold (or be willing to achieve) the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA). The council will support any reasonable training costs.

Interviews are planned for week commencing 3 June 2024.

Chipping Campden Town Council is committed to equality of opportunity and actively welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
