NALC publishes Dementia Friendly Communities report

3 November 2020

The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) has published a Dementia Friendly Communities guide. The report, produced in collaboration with Plymouth University has been endorsed by the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson MP.

NALC signed a strategic commitment with the Alzheimer’s Society in 2017 to promote Dementia Friendly Communities across England and earlier this year carried out a survey of town and parish councils to establish how many were Dementia Friendly or working towards being Dementia Friendly. The results provided the foundation for this guide.

The guide contains advice on building Dementia Friendly Communities including an action planning checklist and case studies from existing communities.

More information about Dementia Friendly Communities will be available at Practitioners’ Conference, our next major virtual event, taking place on 23rd, 24th and 25th February 2021. For details on this unique blend of workshops please click here.
