County Associations are representative bodies for local councils in their area and play a key role in the work that the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) do.

CiLCA is a practical foundation qualification for the sector, available to all local sector staff and councillors.

Ascentis, the awarding body, recommends that you attend training to assist you in completing your qualification. By attending a CiLCA training course, you will have access to a recognised CiLCA trainer. You can then ask them any questions regarding CiLCA.

The County Associations and their recognised CiLCA trainers are an accredited training provider for CiLCA and have a Service Level Agreement (SLA) in place with the SLCC. A recognised CiLCA trainer is responsible for training students who are preparing for the CiLCA qualification.

This page provides details of the County Associations CiLCA training.

If your County Association is not listed below, please contact them directly to enquire about the training they offer.

The aims of the course:

  • Understand their own learning style
  • Develop an interactive approach – this is even more important during online training

We offer learners a flexible approach to their CiLCA qualification journey. Our rolling programme of support workshops run throughout the year allowing candidates to join at any time. We link our offer into our Development pathway for council officers | SALC Website. Our policy requires new learners to be in post for at least 12 months before starting their CiLCA qualification.

We recommend learners take the following steps and book onto our introduction session before doing anything else. We have also included a link to a short film that provides an overview.
