Council: Oswestry Town Council

County: Shropshire

Salary: Salary Scale Scp 46 – Scp 54 (£49,101 - £61,099) (depending upon experience and qualifications)

Oswestry is a traditional market town on the Wales / England Border with a population of 18,000.

With the pending retirement of our long-serving Town Clerk, the Council is seeking to appoint an experienced and innovative Town Clerk, with suitable experience, to take responsibility for all aspects of the management, functions and responsibilities of the Council.

Our current budget is in the region of £3.5 million. Candidates must have a sound knowledge of local government legislation and procedures, hold a relevant professional qualification and the successful applicant will hold the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA). The Council also holds the General Power of Competence and wishes to do so in the future and therefore a suitably qualified Clerk is essential.

The Council provides a wide range of services, activities and events and works with many partners. It also delivers a service level agreement for a national organisation in terms of their administration, finance and delivery of national and regional conferences.

The closing date for the receipt of applications is 25th March 2019; interviews are planned for 11th April 2019.
